Distinctive black lacquer chest, with lid, front, and side panels appliqued with exquisite hand carved mother-of-pearl "Birds and Flowers" design, with hand painted "circle & oval" pattern on frame, finished in a rich, clear lacquer. Hand carved "step" feet. Special order in white or red lacquer, and or with "8 Ladies" design. Brass hardware is clear lacquered to resist tarnish. Finished interior, with removable shelf box.
